Mini-Muth’s Truths: April 20, 2010

In a fundraising email yesterday, Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Sandoval wrote, “As Attorney General, I never fought for the 2003 tax increase.” Then again, he’s never spoken out against it either.

Inoculation Against a Mutated Gross Receipts Tax

The 2009 Legislature passed a series of “temporary” tax-and-fee hikes on businesses which are scheduled to “sunset” next year. However, the state’s budget crisis is likely going to be worse, not better, in the 2011 legislative session. So watch out, baby!

I Pledge Allegiance, to the Taxpayers…

A new website hammering moderate Nevada Republican state senate candidate (District 4, Washoe County) Ben Kieckhefer includes an audio clip whereby reporter Ray Hagar gets right to the heart of the matter: “Yes or no, you are not going to sign the no new tax pledge?” Ben’s response: “No I’m not.” That response pretty much […]

The Candidate of “Hell No!”

In an extensive look at Republican U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle by David McGrath Schwartz of the Las Vegas Sun today, Robert Uithoven, campaign manager for GOP opponent Sue Lowden is quoted as saying:

A Closer Look at that Tea Party Nod to Sharron Angle

(Chuck Muth) – The Tea Party Express has now revealed a bit of their reasoning behind their endorsement of Sharron Angle a few days ago, as well as their plans to assist her campaign….and I’m not exactly impressed.

• Karri Bragg, our First Friday Happy Hour hostess with the mostest, announced yesterday that May’s special VIP guest will be America’s Toughest Sheriff, Joe Arpaio. Yep, the law-and-order man behind tent cities for prisoners in Arizona, green baloney and pink underwear. For additional information, please visit www.FirstFridayNevada.com

• HotAirPundit is reporting that Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain-Feingold now leads conservative challenger J.D. Hayworth by just 5 points “in Arizona’s hotly contested Republican Senate Primary race, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely primary voters.” Go J.D., go!

Mini-Muth’s Truths: April 14, 2010

CORRECTION ALERT: Due to old age and the onset of CRS (Can’t Remember, uh, Stuff), I inadvertently wrote in a press release yesterday that Joe Heck is running for Congress in Nevada’s First congressional district. He’s actually running in the Third congressional district. I regret the error….almost as much as I regret each passing birthday.

Mini-Muth’s Truths: April 13, 2010

• Thom Reilly is a former Clark County manager who is highly-respected and well thought of by a lot of people in southern Nevada. And during his tenure from 2001 through 2006, Reilly regularly warned the County Commission that government worker salaries and benefit packages were far too generous and couldn’t be sustained in the […]

Palin-mania: Catch It!

There’s lots going on here at both the Southern Republican Leadership Conference and in the French Quarter this weekend in New Orleans, but here’s the big thing that happened yesterday in the Big Easy on the shore of the Big Muddy:

If John Ensign REALLY Wanted to Become Better

Scandal-ridden Sen. John Ensign again blew off calls for his resignation yesterday, telling the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he has “learned a great deal from this and I am trying to become a better person, a better husband, a better father, a better friend and a better senator.” Ensign later added, “I am trying to […]

As the Ensign Turns

While Rep. Dean Heller, Nevada Republican, wouldn’t actually use the “Resign!’ word, he pretty much said “Resign!” in his comments about embattled Sen. John Ensign, Nevada Republican, this week. He said as much to Jon Ralston on “Face-to-Face” Wednesday. “You think (the ongoing Ensign investigations are) hurting the state, the effectiveness of the delegation to […]

Nevada John and the Temple of Boom

Sen. John Ensign, Nevada Republican, now resembles the political equivalent of a suicide bomber. The explosive he has wrapped around skivvies is what appears to be an inevitable indictment over his cover-up efforts of his under-the-covers romp with a woman not his wife. And he doesn’t seem to care one wit how many people he […]
