12. Humboldt Squid

Referred to as the “man-eating squid” by wildlife filmmaker Scott Cassell – or “Diablo Rojo (“red devil”) in Mexico – Humboldt Squid “are notorious for their aggression,” including tales by local fishermen claiming “that people who fell into the waters were devoured within tens of seconds by packs of squid.” (Source: Wikipedia)

“They’re not just attacking you to scare you,” Cassell warned in an interview with the San Diego Union-Tribune. “They are attacking you to eat you, not necessarily to kill you. They don’t care if you live or die as long as they get to eat.”
