Muth’s Truths: May 2, 2017

The talking heads on CNN and other fake news channels continue to whine and complain about President Donald Trump’s rally in Harrisburg, PA commemorating his first 100 days in the White House on Saturday.

One CNN bumpkinette actually compared the president to a vampire, saying he was “feeding” off his supporters.  Another said Trump’s ego “needs” these public events.

Actually, it’s not the president who “needs” these rallies so much as the president’s supporters who are constantly hammered with one negative story after another by the media.  Trump’s troops need to hear from their general and get reassurance, unfiltered, straight from the horse’s mouth.

I also love how media chatterboxes are whining that the president didn’t reach out to non-supporters.

Um, why should he?  He’s never going to win over the Trump haters and radicalized liberal snowflakes who seem to organize an anti-Trump “march” every other weekend.

It’d be nice if, after the election, Democrats accepted their defeat and looked for ways to work with the new president.  But they didn’t.  They’re like the proverbial Japanese soldier stranded on a deserted island who never got the word that World War II had ended.

Indeed, Senate Democrats tried to obstruct almost every single one of Trump’s cabinet appointments and forced Republicans to use the “Reid Option” to confirm Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.

The D’s are still operating in campaign mode; why shouldn’t the president? As long as the Democrats and their “amen” corner in the fake news media are in open warfare with the president, there’s absolutely no reason whatsoever to try to appease them.

Say what you will about Donald Trump, but he’s no Neville Chamberlain. Thankfully.

Cheers.

P.S.  Kirk Lippold, Commanding Officer of the USS Cole when it was attacked and almost sunk by al Qaeda suicide terrorists in 2000, is a Nevadan who supports Yucca Mountain as the site for the nation’s nuclear waste.

And The Hill published a column he wrote on the subject yesterday, which includes the following suggestion…

“While not necessary since it is a federal facility on federal land, like any controversial project, there should be some enticement for Nevada to accept this facility. Though jobs and the attendant economic benefit of operating the repository and reprocessing facility is nice, a more acceptable solution would be to invest in the higher education facilities in Nevada to make the state’s universities the pinnacle institutions for educational matters concerning all things nuclear – engineering, energy, medicine, and physics to name a few.”

There are a lot more people in Nevada who agree with CDR Lippold than you would think if all you read and hear are the comments of self-serving, knee-jerk political opponents.  To read the full column, click here.

NEVADA NEWS & VIEWS

* The numbers are in and the Nevada Legislature has been told there will be a surplus of some $96 million more coming into the government’s coffers than projected back in December.

Naturally, after passing the largest tax hike in state history in the last session, the Legislature will now find a way to cut taxes $96 million, right? Or at least rebate that money back to taxpayers the way former Gov. Kenny Guinn did in 2005, right?

Yeah, right.  That money is as good as gone.  Every last dime of it.

* A new PAC has been formed with Republican Senate Minority Leader Michael Roberson spearheading the organization as its Honorary Chairman.

The Prevent Sanctuary Cities PAC was formed for the purpose of putting an initiative on the 2018 ballot to prohibit sanctuary cities in Nevada.  It’s a response to some dumbass efforts by “open borders” Democrats in the 2017 Nevada Legislature to pass a bill making Nevada a “sanctuary state.”

Such an initiative on the ballot in 2018 will serve the dual purpose of boosting conservative turnout at the polls, as well as boosting Sen. Roberson’s prospects in an expected run for lieutenant governor.

* Assembly Bill 156 would require every public school in Nevada to keep on its premises, at taxpayer expense, one inhaler and two holding chambers in case a student has an asthma attack.  Projected annual cost?  In the ritzy neighborhood of a quarter-million a year in Clark County alone.

Wait.  Didn’t I hear our classrooms needed…um, books?

And excuse me, but shouldn’t it be the responsibility of the student suffering with asthma and his/her parents to assure they have an inhaler with them at school?  And if the concern is a student might forget, shouldn’t the student/parents obtain an extra inhaler at THEIR expense and give it to the school nurse just in case?

And why is tax-hiking Assemblyman James “The Big Selloutski” Oscarson (RINO-Pahrump) sponsoring this bill?

ACTION ALERT!

Say “NO” to AB156, taxpayer-funded asthma inhalers in every public school.

Just click on this link: https://www.leg.state.nv.us/App/Opinions/79th2017/A/ and then…

  3. Enter any general comments you’d like to share (not required)
  4. Enter your name and address (phone and email address are not required)

Legislators DO look at these vote tallies before voting on controversial bills, as will the Governor’s office when weighing whether or not to veto a bill.  So thank you for weighing in and making a difference!

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“When small business owners put more money in their pockets, they hire new people and grow the economy.  They really want tax reform, regulatory reduction, and access to capital. Those are the three main things you will hear from small business.” – Linda McMahon, head of the Small Business Administration
