The AP reported on Tuesday that “13 state lawmakers in five states have defected to Republican ranks since the November 2 election, adding to already huge GOP gains in state legislatures.” Of particular note:
“The party switch of a Democratic lawmaker from New Orleans handed control of Louisiana’s House to Republicans for the first time since Reconstruction.”
Hmm. If just one state senator here switched from Democrat to Republican, Republicans would take control of the upper house of Nevada’s Legislature. Which means Democrat Sen. Stephen “Pay to Play” Horsford would be out as Fearless Leader and Republican Sen. Mike McGinness would be the Top Dog.
Do you think Nevada Republicans have ever thought about this? Do you think someone ought to tell ‘em? And wasn’t conservative Democrat state Sen. John Lee a Republican just before getting elected to the Legislature back in the mid-90s? Why, yes he was! Hello, anybody home?
