Conservative former state Sen. Bob Beers is now Las Vegas City Councilman Bob Beers after blowing out “Chicken” Ric Truesdell and his hapless Obama Whisperer son-in-law in a special election on Tuesday, 37-22%.
Beers, by the way, is a solid fiscal conservative; a libertarian even. And he went up against a well-financed/deep-pocketed opponent who tried to smear Beers as a rightwing “partisan hack” and who had the full backing of the mayor and former mayor of the City of Las Vegas. Yet…he won. In a landslide.
So don’t let anyone tell you Republicans have to run “moderate” candidates to win. It…just…ain’t…so.
