Three cheers for Beers!

In case you missed it, Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist John L. Smith broke the story this morning that conservative Republican Las Vegas City Councilman Bob Beers – a former state assemblyman (and leader of the “Lean 15” during the Mother of All Tax Hikes battle in 2003) and state senator – is planning to run against Democrat U.S. Sen. Harry Reid in 2016.

Since Beers is a conservative and liberal blogger Jon Ralston didn’t break the story (it’s not news unless Jon says it’s news first), naturally he dumped all over the announcement.

“My initial thoughts,” sneered Ralston.  “1. Laughter.  2. He won’t run.”

Um, except…he already is.  My understanding is that Beers has already opened an FEC account.  Not an “exploratory” account; a full-blown account.  If so he’s “in” and off to the races!

Of course, no Ralston blog post would be complete without the requisite grammatical Ralstonism…

“Beers is smart, funny and occasionally vicious. He’s be entertaining.”

“He’s be entertaining”?

Good thing Jon is a professional “journalist” or folks might think he’s a dufus.
