“All but four members of Gov. Jim Gibbons’ staff will make a higher salary next fiscal year than what the Legislature approved for the current fiscal year, despite Gibbons’ proposal for all state workers to take a 6 percent pay cut,” reports Anjeanette Damon of Inside Nevada Politics.
“According to salary data obtained by the Reno Gazette-Journal, Gibbons’ staff will make between 3 percent and 85 percent more than the salaries approved by the Legislature last session, even after taking a 6 percent pay cut.”
Damon notes that “Legislative Director Jodi Stephens will make $98,096 in FY2010, compared to the legislatively approved salary of $53,040,” while “Communications director Dan Burns will make 48 percent more than what the Legislature approved for his salary.”
Hmm. No wonder the governor proposed that $282 million tax hike in his budget.
