NSHE Cut to the Bone, eh?

In response to yesterday’s announcement that the UNLV College Republicans, in a spirit of shared sacrifice, were forgoing their university funding, reader Ron Gregrich writes:

“Now, it is equally as important for other UNLV groups and departments to be encouraged to forgo their funding too. As I skim through the university budget, I find it disturbing that President Neal Smatresk wants more taxpayer money for UNLV, yet UNLV still has a ‘Department of Diversity’ with funding of $379,581 this year alone! Oh please, how can the administration eliminate numerous classes yet create and fund non-academic departments like this?”

How, indeed?
