It’s bad enough when a Republican votes badly, especially on a tax hike issue. But those same Republicans really get my blood boiling when, after the fact, they hem, haw, spin, dissemble and often outright lie about what they did and/or how they voted.
Which is the reason why I mailed a letter this week to Republicans in Assemblyman Kelly Kite’s district in Douglas County. It disputes claims found in a fundraising email Kite sent out last week boasting of accomplishments that weren’t accomplishments and rationalizing a tax hike vote he never should have cast.
And with just a few weeks to go before the primaries, I think we’ve given the candidates enough time to sign the Tax Pledge before calling out the non-signers. So let’s start turning the heat up today with Mr. Kite. Why not shoot the Assemblyman an email telling him to stop dancing around and take a firm stand on the issue of voting to extend the “sunsets” once again next session: “Will you or won’t you?” Inquiring minds wanna know.
Kite’s email address is: kellykite@charter.net
BTW, Kite’s Republican primary opponent, Jim Wheeler, HAS proudly signed the Tax Pledge. Which reminds me, for those of you who will be attending the Nevada GOP convention in Sparks, make sure you read the P.S. in my letter. Hope to see many of you there.
