Keep Veto Override Hope Alive

On Friday, the Senate voted for the final leg of the billion dollar Raggio Tax Hike, 17-4, including five of the nine GOP votes. The bill now goes to the governor for his veto – and will then come back to the Legislature for a vote to either override the veto or sustain it.

Now for those who think the vote to over-ride will be another 17-4 slam dunk…..maybe not. Consider the fate of AB 257. That bill to prohibit taking more than ten “free” newspapers originally passed 19-1 on May 12th. Then the governor vetoed the bill and sent it back to the Senate….where the Senate failed to override the veto by a vote of 12-9.

Is there any way in Hades that four of those five RINOs (Republicans in Name Only) in the Senate will find their “inner conservative” and vote to sustain Gov. Gibbons’ veto of Nevada’s Mother of All Tax Hikes?

Don’t bet the farm on it – but stranger things have happened. I mean, who knew God talked directly to Assemblyman John Carpenter through a burning Bush in Elko?
