In his latest “sky is falling” bit of propaganda, University Chancellor Dan Klaich claims in a video that “there are still those who believe we can revive our economy by slowly dismantling our education system.”
What complete and total bull-(expletive).
There isn’t a single person out here that I know who believes that. It’s a lie. No one is using budget cuts to “revive our economy.” The budget cuts are necessary BECAUSE of our economy. And no one is “slowly dismantling our education system.”
To the contrary, all we’re doing is acknowledging economic reality and saying it’s time for higher ed to stop trying to be all things to all people, to focus on core educational disciplines, cut out the wasteful and duplicative spending, and charging a fair market value for the services being delivered to those wishing to take advantage of this taxpayer-subsidized opportunity.
Hey, and here’s a radical idea: Maybe even put professors back in classrooms!
Klaich’s never-ending and dishonest propaganda is one of the main reasons why so many Nevadans are turning a deaf ear to the wailing and gnashing of teeth by The Hyperbole King and his minions.
