Government Employees Goin’ Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs

While the rest of the world is watching the Middle East these days, Big Labor and its Democrat allies, including Obama, have their sights fixed on Wisconsin, where the state’s Republican governor and Legislature are attempting to balance the budget and end collective bargaining for government employees as we know it.

“Rallies,” writes AFL-CIO propagandist Manny Herrmann. “Crowds spilling into the streets. Seas of people marching together in solidarity. Every day this week, nonstop. This isn’t happening in Egypt…but in Madison, Wis.” Herrmann notes that things are so desperate for unionized government employees in Wisconsin that…they’ve created a Facebook page!

Yes, that’s how bad it is.

Actually, it really is. If Big Labor loses this fight in Wisconsin, collective bargaining for government employees will go down domino-style throughout the fruited plain. And Big Labor knows this is a dagger aimed right at its heart. You see, the only growth in the union movement is in the unionization of government employees.

As such, 14 Wisconsin Democrats in the state senate have fled Wisconsin to prevent a vote on Gov. Scott Walker’s proposal. “They’re in Illinois now, speaking to the press from undisclosed locations to evade capture,” reports the hyper-liberal goofballs at MoveOn.org.

This isn’t an unprecedented temper-tantrum tactic by childish Democrats, by the way. Back in 2003, Texas Democrats fled to neighboring Oklahoma in an effort to block a redistricting bill they didn’t like. I mean seriously; what big babies.

At issue now are collective bargaining rights for government employees whose greed is bankrupting cities and counties all over the nation, including Nevada. You have heard about those unionized Clark County firefighters abusing their collectively bargained sick leave and overtime benefits to rack up salaries in excess of $200,000 a year, right?

The movement to reign in out-of-control “public servants” is spreading outside of Wisconsin. Gov. John Kasich of Ohio is pushing similar measures in the Buckeye State. “I don’t favor the right to strike of any public employee, OK?” he said this week. “They’ve got good jobs, high pay, good benefits, a great retirement. What are they striking for?”

What, indeed?

Hoping to head off the movement here in Nevada, Ruben Murillo, the Clark County teachers union boss, used the taxpayer-funded school district email system on Friday to call on teachers to don their “red” (wait, isn’t that the Republican color?) and show up at a rally on Monday to protest. Here’s his panicked pitch:

There is a concerted effort across the nation to blame teachers and public employees around the country, including Nevada public employees, who are under attack from Politicians bent on destroying the labor movement! Just take a look at what’s happening in Wisconsin where massive rallies involving tens of thousands of people have captured the attention of our nation.

A rally sponsored by the Nevada AFL/CIO will be held on Monday in both Carson City and Las Vegas. Show your support and outrage that such an attack on public employee rights should not happen in Wisconsin or anywhere in the United States!

All week long we have witnessed mass demonstrations with tens of thousands of people, marching together in solidarity –not in Egypt – in Madison, Wisconsin! The Governor and certain legislators have proposed bills that would take away workers rights and voices. This is happening all across the nation and here in Nevada.

Now is the time to stand up for yourself and for Nevada public employees! Attend the rally on Monday and send a message to our legislators! Look for the CCEA truck and get some water, posters and markers to make your signs and remember to WEAR RED!

The crybaby rally is scheduled for noon in front of the Grant Sawyer building in Las Vegas.

I’d love to see somebody show up with a case of pacifiers to hand out to these supposedly “professional” teachers who’ll be walking around in circles holding signs reading “Sandoval is a Nazi” while mindlessly chanting “Whadda we want? Mo’ money! When do we want it? NOW!” and “Hey, hey, ho, ho, cheapskate taxpayers got to go!”

Public employees have had the support of the public for decades. Then they got greedy. And now the chickens have come home to roost. Serves ‘em right.
