Laura Myers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported this week that GOP consultant Pete Ernaut said that Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval “wants to help repair the Nevada Republican Party.”
“I think efforts to rebuild the Republican Party have to be led by the governor,” Ernaut said.
Seriously?
Good luck with that.
The governor has ignored the party and helped fund competing GOP operations this election cycle.
He’s in diametric opposition to the party’s stated position on tax hikes.
He rarely shows up any party events other than an occasional Lincoln Day Dinner, and even ditched the GOP’s biennial state convention in his own backyard last spring.
Why in the world would the party’s conservative grassroots foot soldiers take direction from a moderate AWOL titular head?
