Why are taxpayers of Nevada paying the tuition of the children of university employees? Better question, if the children of university employees are getting free tuition, why are they also getting Millennium Scholarships? In addition, if those children get free tuition AND Millennium Scholarships AND other scholarships, and the total exceeds the tuition at the school, why are those students cut a rebate check to spend at their leisure?
Those are the questions asked of me last night at the forum at UNLV featuring James Carville and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. I don’t know the answers. Indeed, I had no idea such a thing was going on. But somebody ought to look into this practice to see if it’s true. And if it is, it needs to be stopped, pronto!
