Seeing Red

It will be billed as a “safety” measure, but make no mistake, AB 504 is nothing more than a gigantic Big Brother tax hike.

The bill, introduced by the Assembly Ways & Means Committee on Monday, “would let law enforcement issue traffic citations based on automated camera evidence.” The new law, naturally, is being supported “by companies that contract with local law enforcement to install and operate the camera systems in return for a percentage of the revenues collected.” Duh.

No self-respecting Republican should ever back such a bill – which, of course, means many of them will.
